Not just Hemingway is dedicated to giving stage to the Short Story from all corners of the world.
We love reading short stories by Hemingway, but not just Hemingway. There’s a world of voices out there, outside your algorithm, beyond your borders, and we have set out to hear and talk about as many voices as possible.
We celebrate the short story for all that it is, and for all that it isn’t. That said, we believe beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. We believe a good story is worth a broken night, a neglected spouse, a coffee turned cold, and the feeling of being punched in the stomach.
We believe reading should be fun and we believe life is too short to be reading something you don’t actually enjoy. We believe in brevity of the story and talking about it for as long and as often as it takes. We believe rereading is lovely, (unless your name is Scheherazade, we believe you should, too) and we believe reading from perspectives foreign to our experience is great. We believe the independent bookstore and the librarian are great sources of information.
Last but not least, we highlight the Short Story, but we read more than just Hemingway. (The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has no pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid – and that’s both an opinion and a truth universally acknowledged.)
